and so, I arrived in Toronto on Thursday...by plane..
to meet up with The Lenster who, along with his motorcycle club, took 4 days to ride up from home (approx 600 miles).......sightseeing along the way.
Hillels Angels
and lo and behold we both arrive in the town of Markham,
at exactly the same time !! ..with some of the group.
the plan....to ride the next day thru Toronto, in support of Holocaust education. This "Ride to Remember" is one that is done every year to a different locale (next year California) sponsored by the Jewish Motorcyclists Alliance.
This years recipient, The Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Center, runs an outreach program which sends speakers out to schools and also brings students to the center for Holocaust education.
There were at least 250 bikers from all over the country
BUT...alas...a cold and rainy front moved in and we had torrential downpours on the day of the ride.
Thank goodness for the few that had cars...so..I didn't have to get drenched on the back of the motorcycle, but I did get to have breakfast and lunch at 2 different synagogues.. via car!!
breakfast at the Shaar Shaion Synagogue (Orthodox)
everyone got goodie bags
and dinner at the beautiful Holy Blossom Synagogue
(Reform) the oldest Jewish congregation in Toronto founded in 1856
we went to Shabbat services led by an Orthodox Rabbi that concluded with some happy dancing..just an FYI...I'm not Orthodox so this service was completely out of MY element !!
and some wonderful comraderie
Bye Bye Toronto...
I flew home Saturday so I could make it back in time to attend MY temples 10th anniversary celebration (that'll be tomorrows blog !) and The Lenster rode back with his buddies and got home today (Sunday).
He says he feels all rejuvinated !!!

Don't forget you can go fossil hunting in Middletown, NJ. Poricy Park has a 65 million year old fossil bed. Here's the info: www.poricypark.org
