the best part is that you don't have to wait until 'the weekend ' to do special things...you can run off any ole time you please...
so...The Lenster and hopped on the motorcycle on a 90 degree day (whew !) and visited the Vietnam Memorial in Holmdel, NJ at the Garden State Art Center
the grounds were being cleaned that day so no one was there. It was serene and peaceful
New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial
This statue honors those from our state that served in the Vietnam War. No one is buried on the site except the orignal owners of the land who donated the property.
Very moving to see that a child obviously visited here
and, just as we were leaving we spotted the 'gardner'

Back on the bike
and up the highway
to the Navesink Highlands Light Station
now perhaps you've read (in previous posts...) that I'm afraid of heights...hate the water (don't swim) and never exercise ...now with that in mind....
I freakin' schlepped up the SPIRAL STAIRCASE...(I HATE spiral staircases in case I forgot to mention that as well !!)...and I mean schlepped...it got smaller and narrower as we went up...
BUT...alas...I made it to the top...I'm feeling so proud at this point.... as I totally gasp for air...
just so I could say I 'saw the view' from the top! Thank God the 'top' was caged in...you know...the height thing and all..
Okay...terrifically wonderful...4 hours on the bike...ENUF FOR ME !!! My tushy isn't 35 years old any more !!!
**********
Then today...we opted for a bus...good thinking..and went into NYC. Need I say more...it's one of my favorite things to do...schlep around Manhattan...
the bus comes into Port Authority
and there is this amazing rolling ball sculpture by George Rhoads' called '42nd Street Ballroom' (1983) in the north building
okay then....
we make our way to our destination...
The Eugene O'Neill Theater
I would never mean to insult or offend any of my friends or readers who are Mormons but I can not tell a lie...this show...(a religious satire) was truly hilarious...it is a musical with a book, lyrics, and music by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone.... Best known for creating the animated comedy South Park.
The entire audience stood at the end...100% standing ovation.
********
Walking back to catch the bus...
(wish we'd been catching this....)
we pass all sorts of interesting New Yorkers..
you can stop to have a drink of NY water (some of the best by the way...I grew up on it!)
you can see wonderful plants everywhere
a knockoff purse for sale on every corner
of perhaps you need a special sign
whatever you're looking for
IT'S IN NEW YORK...that's fer sure
tomorrow...jewelry...

the photos are fantastic! thanks for sharing your travels with us! And you get the "omg" medal for climbing those stairs or would you say ladder!
