So....wha'dya do today?
well, The Lenster and I drove up to Jersey City (40 miles)
and took the PATH train at Grove Street into New York. We often take a train when we don't feel like either driving into the city or paying an exorbitant amount for parking. Its fun and fast to go this way.
The subway sometimes reminds me of the Metro in Paris
and there's even cool art on the walls
and some of the stations have really old architecture (anyone recognize Hoboken ??)
well anyway......back to the train and the credit card....there was a street fair going on near NY University at Columbus Avenue and I always keep track of those events. After all....as I run out of wall space I just move things around. Every week the Lenster thinks he lives somewhere new. Works for me.

First we walk past some of NY's finest brownstones.
these pieces of real estate go for a looooooot of money....like 1.5 to 1.8 million....like I said......a drop in the bucket.
or...you can rent one for $15,000 a month....gotta sell a lot of Melting Pots to qualify !
one APARTMENT (not the whole building mind you), a 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 baths, 1200 square feet built in 1898, with a
fireplace, recently sold for $1.85 million.

we were in an area of the city known as "NoHo", meaning, north of Houston (pronounced Howston, not like the city in Texas pronounced Huuuuston with a drawl)...and different than "SoHo", which is south of Houston, and close to The Village. We passed a nice part of lower 5th Avenue....not the part with all the fancy schmancy shops...that's Upper 5th avenue.
OK...'nuff with the geography.
people are out everywhere with their upscale doggies like this Italian Greyhound. You just don't see too many 'mutts' on 5th avenue !
we're approaching the 'street' part of the fair. Nothing so far is juried art...just fun stuff and lots of food. BUT...that doesn't prevent me from asking
'DO YOU SHIP" (my 3 favorite words)
It's important to get those rules established straight away in case I start drooling over something and they say no.

BUT...good fortune is upon us....The Lenster has brought a backpack today so we may not need the whole shipping enchilada !

Already I'm swallowing hard. I fall instantly in love with these little distressed looking photos on canvas. They come from THE WALKING ART and they are all done using Photoshop and the artists special concept of putting them together on the canvas. We bought 3 of them. The Lenster picked out HIS favorites. I want him to be happy too !!! Everything can't be about ME !!!!
we pass a restaurant named after The Lenster. He's eternally famous.
we decide instead to stop in Washington Square Park and have lunch on a bench near the arch and 'pretend' we're in Paris...LOL !

so, picture this...a gal who makes rings and jewelry out of recycled rubber bands that she takes off broccoli from the supermarket....now...would I lie to you..?..and you thought eating your greens was just for fiber cause Dr. Oz said so.

This 'frozen charlotte' doll was found on a dig in Brooklyn. That's what this company, New York Artifact, does...digs for artifacts in NYC
and I loved this gals great 2 sided soldered collages...called CityBitz, so you can take a piece of the city with you. She's on Etsy

then The Lenster and I came upon an Argentinian paper artist named Lila Turjanski-Villard and The Lenster got really excited...over this piece below...made from paper.
she floats....and now she's floating on a wall in our house !!!! We loved her the minute we saw her.

now we're doomed.....I could no way resist these. I bought one for The Lenster for Fathers Day
it is a real clock. It has both our hobbies on it...a motorcycle and a camera. It has so many fabulous hidden parts..... AND...wait..there's more...the old slide viewer has a real Kodachrome slide in it of Godzilla....we love it because we are nutz !!! WE ARE COMPLETELY NUTZ !!!
