It's a yucky, disgusting blah rainy today. Feh...Feh...Feh !!!! BUT....
it's also back to business, as usual
Early morning meeting with ladies from The Brandeis Womens Club at one of the members homes
meetings always mean cholesterol, calorie counting treats
and lots of ideas for study groups for the January through April calender.
I offered to do a bead making class for 2011. ...well..that's kind of hysterical! Not a UTEE class (we've done that already), a BEAD class.....I'm picturing my gorgeous Angela, (a fabulous beader), giggling....
so, I'm inviting you....puleeeze do visit Angelas site...Avenue A on Etsy
and while you're busy visiting sites...check out what Melissa Samuels has done with Ranger Memory Frames and UTEE. How she's incorporated them into cards. After looking at her samples even I want to take her classes. !!
I started a canvas a while back using both UTEE and Beeswax (in separate areas of the canvas). It's one of those 12 x 12 really cool canvases that has a niche in it that comes from TEN SECONDS STUDIO
UTEE & Beeswax DONT mix...don't ever try melting them together. That's a big no-no. I used a technique I show in classes.
The 'silver' areas are UTEE on pieces of Ranger Red Liner Wonder Tape, cut in random shapes. Here's how you start.
First you cut the tape into shapes. Pull the tape from its white release liner leaving the red liner in place. Place tape on the canvas. Pull off the red liner. Sprinkle Platinum UTEE over the sticky tape and heat with a heat gun. UTEE sticks to Wonder Tape because it is heat resistant.
Now, take the white release paper that came on the back of the tape shape and cover the UTEE areas. You'll probably just have to hold it down with your hand.
Then brush the remaining open areas with wax. I layer and fuse about 4-5 layers of wax. It's okay if some of the wax goes over the release liner. It will all peel off when you're done. In fact, waxing a little bit over the release paper may even help hold the 'mask' in place.
Then I dust the cooled wax with Ranger Perfect Pearls and my favorite Pan Pastels. I'm giddy over Pan Pastels !!
Last, I glued a UTEE Buddah in the niche using super strong E-6000.
Don't know yet if this is a finished piece or not a finished piece.....I'll come back to it if & when I get an idea.

Bead making, what a silly girl I am! I adore your utee and wax frame, don't change one little bit of it PLEASE, it is totally delicious! I am not even a gold kind of girl, but I love it. x
